Orange Pi Unveils Cost-Effective Alternative to RPi Zero 2W

Orange Pi has just released an affordable development board with a form factor similar to the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W. The Orange Pi Zero 2W is powered by the Allwinner H618 quad-core processor and offers configurations with up to 4GB of LPDDR4 memory.

The Orange Pi Zero 2W is powered by the same Allwinner processor seen on Orange Pi Zero 3 covered in early July 2023.

Customers can choose from various RAM configurations, ranging from 1GB to 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Additionally, the board includes 16MB of SPI Flash and a MicroSD card slot for expanded storage options.

This Orange Pi device provides interfaces similar to the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, including a Mini HDMI port with support for 4K@60fps resolution, dual USB Type-C ports, and a 40-pin expansion header that offers compatibility with GPIOs, 5x UART, I2C, 1x SPI, 4x PWM, and more.

There is also a compatible expansion board available which offers additional features such as a 3.5mm audio jack, 1x RJ45 (100Mbps) port, and various other peripherals.

    That should be a great alternative to Pi Zero W2. Finally something of the same size with more RAM in 2023, yay!

    They missed an opportunity by not enabling the ability to use the Pi Zero type Hats that use pogo pins. See the similar https://linuxgizmos.com/mangopi-allwinner-based-sbc-available-for-27us/ board which has the pads in the appropriate position so the pogo pin hats are functional.
