Arbor announced a tiny COM Express computer-on-module featuring a 9W dual-core AMD G-Series SoC, plus 2GB soldered RAM, extended temperature, and PCIe.

Arbor Technology’s “EmNANO-a56M0″ computer-on-module, billed as is its smallest COM Express module yet, is designed for applications including medical equipment, security and surveillance, gaming, digital signage, and 3D displays, says the company. Like the Cogent CSB1890T10-Q15, the COM applies AMD’s 28nm-fabricated G-Series SoC to the tiny (84 x 55mm) COM Express Type 10 Mini form-factor. Whereas the Cogent module uses the quad-core GX-420CA SoC model, the EmNANO-a56M0 provides a GX-210HA with dual 1GHz cores, Radeon HD 8210 graphics, and a modest 9W TDP.

The rugged EmNANO-a56M0 module offers 2GB of soldered DDR3L RAM, and supports extended temperatures of -20 to 70°C, says Arbor. A gigabit Ethernet controller is provided via a PCI-Express connection, and expansion I/O includes three more PCIe x1 lanes.

Dual independent displays are supported via the available DDI and single-channel, 18-bit LVDS interfaces. A VGA port is also available. Additional I/O includes eight USB 2.0, dual SATA, 8-bit DIO, LPC, SPI, and HD audio interfaces.

Options include heatspreaders, fans, a cable kit and an unnamed EPIC form-factor carrier board. No specific OS support was listed, but we’re confident the module runs Linux.
