Low-Cost FireBeetle 2 ESP32-P4 Now Available with Wi-Fi 6, MIPI CSI/DSI, and RISC-V Core

Aug 19, 2025 — by Giorgio Mendoza 261 views

DFRobot has officially introduced the FireBeetle 2 ESP32-P4, a compact microcontroller board built for computer vision and multimedia projects. Priced at $11.90, it pairs the ESP32-P4 SoC with a companion co-processor for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth connectivity, targeting applications such as cameras, smart home devices, and interactive interfaces.

The ESP32-P4 includes a 360 MHz dual-core RISC-V processor with single-precision FPU and AI instruction extensions, enabling lightweight machine learning models such as TensorFlow Lite to run directly on the device.

The FireBeetle 2 is advertised to be optimized for multimedia and AI workloads with native MIPI-CSI and MIPI-DSI interfaces, allowing direct connection to Raspberry Pi-compatible cameras and displays without additional adapters.

A built-in image signal processor, JPEG/H.264 encoders, and pixel accelerators enable video capture and playback at up to 1080p@30fps or 720p@88fps. An onboard PDM digital microphone adds support for voice-driven features and audio AI.
