CompuLab’s Fitlet-RM is a rugged mini-PC that runs Linux Mint on an AMD A10 Micro-6700T, and offers -40 to 70°C operation, WiFi, and up to four GbE ports.

Enclosed in an all-metal, 108 x 83 x 24mm housing, the fanless Fitlet-RM mini-PC “provides excellent durability at extreme temperatures and conditions of shock, vibration and dust,” says CompuLab. The computer is available in two versions. There’s a Fitlet-RM-iA10 version with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, six USB ports, WiFi-ac, and Bluetooth, as well as a Fitlet-RM-XA10-LAN that offers four GbE ports, five USB ports, and WiFi-n only.

Like last year’s very similar Fitlet-H, the computer runs Windows or Linux Mint on a quad-core AMD A10 Micro-6700T processor. The A10 Micro-6700T uses AMD’s Puma+ architecture, the successor to the Jaguar (Kabini and Temash) architecture.

Whereas the AMD SoCs on the earlier models started at 1GHz with a boost mode of 1.4GHz or 1.6GHz, the A10 Micro-6700T starts at 1.2GHz and boosts to 2.2GHz. Even with the available AMD Radeon R6 Graphics, the processor still manages to maintain a low 4.5W TDP, leading here to a range of 3.5W to 10.5W. CompuLab cites a recent AnandTech review of the quad-GbE Fitlet-RM-XA10-LAN version that says the computer “manages to surpass all equivalent [Intel Atom] Bay Trail and Braswell systems in almost all benchmarks.”

The 0.22-liter housing is smaller than that of the Fitlet-H, which has many of the same features and more, as well as twice the RM models’ 8GB of RAM. Unlike the Fitlet-H, there’s no SATA storage, but there’s a microSD slot and mSATA slot for SSDs, and on the Fitlet-RM-iA10, there’s also eSATAp.

Like the Fitlet-H, there are two HDMI ports, two USB 3.0 ports, and varying numbers of USB 2.0 and GbE ports, depending on model. Both analog and S/PDIF 7.1+2 audio is available, along with a serial port and interfaces including UART and GPIO.

Both Fitlet-RM models have a mini-PCIe slot with USB2.0 and PCIe 2.0, accompanied by a micro-SIM slot for supporting optional cellular radios. Signals from this slot are used for interfacing with Compulab’s FACET (formerly FACE) daughter-card add-ons in the LAN version. As usual with CompuLab, there are numerous options and customizations available. An SBC only version is also said to be available.

The Fitlet-RM has a wide-range 10 to 15V DC input, and its enclosure is all metal “with interlocking parts for structural strength,” says CompuLab. The fanless, passively cooled comes in a variety of temperature ranges up to industrial-40 to 700C. The “ventless design and no internal airflow make Fitlet-RM an extremely reliable computer in dusty, corrosive or humid environments,” says CompuLab.
