Torizon and Texas Instruments Collaborate on Cybersecurity Compliance for Embedded Systems

Mar 4, 2025 — by Giorgio Mendoza 131 views

Torizon and Texas Instruments have announced a collaboration aimed at simplifying cybersecurity compliance and development for industrial and medical embedded systems. The partnership integrates Torizon’s software platform with TI’s Arm-based, Linux-capable processors, addressing increasing security requirements such as those outlined in the EU Cyber Resilience Act.

With security regulations requiring frequent updates, Software Bills of Materials, continuous monitoring, encrypted storage, and secure boot mechanisms, this collaboration provides a development framework that combines secure hardware with a structured software environment.

The integration of Torizon Security with TI’s hardware security features, including a dedicated secure enclave, is intended to facilitate compliance with cybersecurity standards. Developers can access these security features through a full-stack approach that includes hardware, operating systems, and services for security monitoring and remote updates.

Torizon’s development tools, including a Visual Studio Code plugin and OS configuration utilities, are designed to support rapid prototyping and deployment. This approach aims to assist engineers in streamlining development for industrial and medical applications by providing prebuilt software containers and a structured development ecosystem.

Torizon’s platform includes security and reliability features designed for industrial and medical applications. It supports real-time processing through Linux RT_Patch or Xenomai and provides access to TI’s onboard Arm Cortex microcontrollers for applications that require hard real-time processing.

Initial hardware support includes TI development boards such as the AM62-SK-AM62B-P1, BeaglePlay, AM67A-BeagleY-AI, and AM62P-SK-AM62P-LP. Additional support is planned later in 2025 for platforms such as the AM64-TMDS64EVM, AM69A, AM62A-SK-AM62A-LP, and AM68A (TDA4VM)-BeagleBone AI-64.

A webinar on April 10, 2025, will provide further details on the collaboration and demonstrate how developers can implement security features such as secure boot and over-the-air updates on TI’s processors. Experts from TI and Torizon will present insights into cybersecurity compliance and development workflows, followed by a live Q&A session.

Torizon and TI have emphasized that this collaboration is intended to provide manufacturers with tools to meet evolving cybersecurity requirements while managing development complexity in industrial and medical sectors.
