Rugged, fanless mini-PC runs Ubuntu on Atom at 8.3 Watts
Apr 13, 2016 — by Eric Brown 2,818 viewsLogic Supply is selling a rugged, Cincoze-built “DA-1000” mini-PC with an Atom E3826, -25 to 70°C support, and a price starting at $569.
Logic Supply, which recently released an Intel Braswell-based CL100 Intel NUC mini-PC, announced a somewhat larger, but similarly fanless, mini-PC manufactured by Taiwan-based Cincoze. Logic Supply is distributing the DA-1000 in the U.S. starting at $569. The highly customizable DA-1000 is “our most affordable rugged computer to date,” says Logic Supply.

The DA-1000 runs Ubuntu or Windows on a dual-core, 1.46GHz Atom E3826 SoC with a 7W TDP. Under typical operation, the entire system consumes 8.3 Watts, or up to a maximum of 15W, says Logic Supply.
The system is enclosed in a fanless, ventless aluminum and steel chassis measuring 150 x 105 x 56mm, and supports operating temperatures of -25 to 70°C. The DA-1000 is designed to “resist damage from shock, vibration, and airborne contaminants,” according to Logic Supply, although no ruggedization specs were supplied.

The system features a wide input power voltage of 9 to 48V DC and a 3-pin terminal block connector “for stable, secure power even in vibration-prone or fluctuating power environments,” says Logic Supply. There’s also a 2-pin remote power on/off connector. Cincoze’s product page for the device also mentions the inclusion of over voltage and current protection, although this is not listed by Logic Supply.
