Sep 19, 2023 — by Giorgio Mendoza 394 views

Pimoroni recently featured the Picade, a retro arcade machine powered by the popular Raspberry Pi board. The company is also currently offering a limited-time promotion that includes a free Raspberry Pi 4 8GB, a PSU, and a 32GB microSD card for storage.

The display consists of a 10” IPS display with 1024 x 768 resolution (4:3 ratio) and can be powered via the micro-USB cable from the Raspberry Pi.

The  Picade X HAT is a feature-packed breakout board with DuPont connectors for easy button and joystick setup, an I2S audio DAC with 3W amplifier for mono audio, and USB-C power management for convenience. It offers 4-way joystick inputs, 6 player buttons, 4 utility buttons, and secure metal standoffs for stability.

The Picade cabinet provides a few black powder-coated panels, authentic artwork on an acrylic marquee and console, and genuine push-fit arcade buttons. It also comes with a joystick featuring a black ball top and a powerful 3″ (5W, 4Ω) speaker for audio.

Measuring at approximately 310 x 260 x 250mm, the cabinet provides convenient access through a removable back panel, features a dedicated illuminated power button, and remains securely in place with the help of grippy rubber feet. For more information, refer to the demo above.
