Renesas Electronics has introduced the RZ/V2N Evaluation Kit, a platform for developing embedded systems with on-device AI. Built around the RZ/V2N microprocessor, it combines an AI accelerator, image signal processor, and security features for vision-based edge applications.

The evaluation platform includes two boards: the RTK0EF0186C02000BJ main board and the RTK0EF0168B00000BJ expansion board. The main board has a compact 153mm × 100mm footprint and integrates key components including the RZ/V2N MPU, a RAA215300A2GNP#HA2 power management IC, and a 5L35023B clock generator.

The RZ/V2N microprocessor features a quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 (1.8GHz) for application processing and a Cortex-M33 (200MHz) for real-time control. It includes the DRP-AI accelerator for low-latency, low-power AI inference and optionally integrates the Arm Mali-C55 ISP for advanced image signal processing.

Memory resources include 8GB of LPDDR4X and 64MB of xSPI Flash. Additional storage options are available via a microSD slot, a selectable secondary microSD slot, or an external 64GB eMMC module.

For high-speed data transfer and multimedia support, the kit offers dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB 3.2 Gen2 (host), USB 2.0 OTG, and a PCIe Gen 3 slot with up to two lanes. It also features two MIPI CSI-2 connectors for camera input and a MIPI-DSI display interface.

The expansion board adds further capabilities, including an HDMI Type-A output via the ADV7535 transmitter, four Pmod connectors supporting GPIO, SPI, UART, and I²C, and three 3.5mm audio jacks for microphone, auxiliary input, and headphone output.
