The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced a new 3GB variant of the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, priced at $83.75, alongside a set of price increases affecting multiple products across its lineup. The changes are attributed to a sharp rise in LPDDR4 memory costs, which the company reports have increased seven-fold over the past year.
The newly introduced 3GB Raspberry Pi 4 expands the available memory configurations for the platform, which previously included 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB variants.

The addition provides an intermediate option for users who do not require higher memory capacities but are affected by rising prices on larger configurations.

Price adjustments apply primarily to products with 4GB or more of memory. Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 models see increases of $25 for 4GB variants and $50 for 8GB variants, while the 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 increases by $100.
Similar changes extend to the Raspberry Pi 500 series, Compute Module 4, 4S, and 5 families, as well as the Compute Module 5 development kit and the Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ 2.
| Product | Density | Price Increase |
|---|---|---|
| Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 | 4GB | $25 |
| Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 | 8GB | $50 |
| Raspberry Pi 5 | 16GB | $100 |
| Raspberry Pi 500 (unit only and kit) | — | $50 |
| Raspberry Pi 500+ unit only | — | $150 |
| Raspberry Pi 500+ kit | — | $150 |
| Compute Module 4 and 4S | 1GB | $11.25 |
| Compute Module 4, 4S, 5 | 2GB | $12.50 |
| Compute Module 4, 4S, 5 | 4GB | $25 |
| Compute Module 4, 4S, 5 | 8GB | $50 |
| Compute Module 5 | 16GB | $100 |
| Development Kit for Compute Module 5 | — | $25 |
| Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ 2 | — | $50 |
Lower-memory configurations remain unchanged. The company states that 1GB and 2GB variants of Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 continue to be offered in the $35 to $65 range.
Older products based on LPDDR2 memory, including Raspberry Pi Zero, Zero W, Zero 2 W, and Raspberry Pi 3 series boards, are also unaffected due to existing inventory.

The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B itself remains unchanged at the hardware level. It is based on the Broadcom BCM2711 SoC, featuring a quad-core Arm Cortex-A72 processor operating at up to 1.8 GHz. The board includes Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.

Raspberry Pi 4 peripherals
I/O features include two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, along with dual micro-HDMI outputs supporting up to 4Kp60 video. Additional interfaces include a 40-pin GPIO header, MIPI CSI and DSI connectors for camera and display integration, and a microSD card slot for storage.
Power is supplied via USB-C or through the GPIO header, with optional PoE available through a separate HAT.
Further Information
Raspberry Pi indicates that the current pricing environment is expected to be temporary. The company notes that it plans to reverse price increases when memory costs stabilize, while continuing to explore additional memory configurations to limit the impact on users.
The new 3GB Raspberry Pi 4 is already listed, though not yet in stock, at resellers including Pimoroni, ThePiHut, and Cytron.
