OnLogic is prepping a fanless, industrial Raspberry Pi CM4-based mini-PC with dual GbE, 4x USB, micro-HDMI, serial, and M.2 for SATA.

In honor of yesterday’s Pi Day celebration, OnLogic has teased an unnamed mini-PC due later this year that runs on a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. The “real industrial Raspberry Pi” appears to be OnLogic’s first Arm-based computer.

The “One Tough Pi” will “offer a unique opportunity to prototype solutions on Raspberry Pi architecture and then rapidly deploy to the factory floor or within a stacked solution,” says OnLogic. In December, the Raspberry Pi Foundation listed OnLogic among the members of its new Raspberry Pi Approved Design Partners program.

OnLogic’s 129 x 102.5 x 38mm computer is smaller than its recent, Intel Elkhart Lake based Helix 300 and Karbon 400 systems. It is even more compact than the smaller, Apollo Lake based ML350G-10 embedded PC.

The mini-PC follows the design philosophy of its Helix comptuters and represents an “evolution” of its Hardshell Fanless technology. The mini-PC features a “wide” operating range, as well as “visible aluminum heat sinks, which not only provide efficient fanless cooling, but also make up the majority of the external surface of the system,” says the company.

Raspberry Pi CM4

The Raspberry Pi CM4 has the same Broadcom BCM2711 SoC with 4x 1.5GHz Cortex-A72 cores used by the Raspberry Pi 4. The CM4 ships with 2GB to 8GB LPDDR4-3200 RAM and 0GB to 32GB eMMC.

OnLogic is supplying its own CM4 carrier board with the 8GB/32GB version of the CM4. The system adds 2x GbE, 2x USB 2.0, and single USB 3.2 and micro-USB OTG ports.

The industrial mini-PC is further equipped with a micro-HDMI port, an RS-232/422/485 terminal block, and an M.2 2280 slot designed for SATA storage. There is no mention of 40-pin expansion.
