Radxa ROCK 4D with RK3576 SoC, PCIe Gen2 x1, Gigabit Ethernet, and PoE Support Starts at $30

May 21, 2025 — by Giorgio Mendoza 715 views

Radxa has introduced a single-board computer with a form factor similar to the Raspberry Pi 3, powered by the octa-core Rockchip RK3576 system-on-chip. Key features of the new ROCK 4D include PCIe Gen2 expansion, Gigabit Ethernet with PoE support, and broad I/O compatibility.

The board is built around the Rockchip RK3576 SoC, which integrates four Cortex-A72 cores clocked up to 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores up to 2.0GHz. The SoC also includes a 6 TOPS NPU and supports AI frameworks such as RKNN and LLM. RAM configurations range from 2GB to 16GB of LPDDR5.

For storage, the board offers multiple expansion options: a bottom-mounted eMMC connector, a microSD card slot, and a PCIe Gen2 x1 interface via FPC connector. This expansion interface is compatible with SSDs, 2.5G Ethernet adapters, and the Radxa Penta SATA HAT. It also supports various official accessories, including camera modules, PoE HATs, and displays.

Display capabilities include dual outputs, supporting 4K at 120Hz over HDMI and 2K via MIPI DSI. Connectivity features include onboard Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 (also listed as BT 5.3 in some sources), dual USB 3.0 ports, dual USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 3.5mm audio jack with microphone input.

Additionally, instead of the micro USB port used for powering the Raspberry Pi 3, the ROCK 4D features a USB Type-C power input.

Software support includes Debian 12, Android 14, Yocto, and Buildroot. The board is compatible with both the mainline Linux kernel (version 6.14) and Rockchip’s 6.1 kernel. However, as of publication, a dedicated Wiki page for the ROCK 4D does not appear to be available on Radxa’s website.

FPC thingy instead of “standard” mini pci or M2, meh.
No integrated USB debug UART => NIMBY, (Willy T. is not the only one who wants that).
