Olimex has announced the RP2350-PICO2-BB48, an enhanced Raspberry Pi Pico 2 with open hardware design. It exposes all 48x GPIOs in a 0.6-inch dual-inline layout for breadboard use and integrates improvements that expand flexibility for prototyping and development.

The hardware configuration is based on the RP2350B processor, which integrates dual Cortex-M33 or dual RISC-V cores operating at 150MHz. It includes 520KB of on-chip SRAM, while the external flash and optional PSRAM expand resources for more demanding applications. The BB48R variant adds a microSD slot that enables additional data handling capabilities.

Olimex mentions that two versions of the board are offered. The base RP2350-PICO2-BB48 comes with 16MB of external flash memory, while the RP2350-PICO2-BB48R extends the hardware with 8MB of external PSRAM and a microSD card connector. Both versions are shipped with pre-soldered headers, which allows direct use on a breadboard without additional preparation.

The board includes a USB-C connector for both data and power together with a DC-DC regulator that provides a stable 3.3V supply at up to 2A. Reset and boot buttons are included for easier firmware flashing and development. Connectivity is expanded with a UEXT port and a Qwiic or Stemma connector, offering options for attaching external modules and sensors. A status LED and accessible debug pads further support testing and troubleshooting.

With compact dimensions of 69 x 18 millimeters, the board fits into space-constrained designs while remaining compatible with breadboards.
