Logic Supply’s Atom N2800 based “CC150” industrial IoT gateway is loaded with a version of the Linux-based IoT Server software from Candi Controls.

The CC150 Internet of Things Gateway with Candi IoT Server is designed for “managing and controlling energy and operational data in commercial buildings and industrial sites with Internet of Things devices,” says Logic Supply. The hardware vendor teamed up with Candi, whose Linux-based IoT gateway software of the same name stands for Cloud-Assisted Network Device Integration. The Candi IoT Server appears to be the same as a product listed as the Open IoT Server on the Candi website. The server offers an “open translation layer at the edge of the network,” using a service bus architecture and a streamlined,” homegrown Internet of Things Protocol (IOTP) API. The Candi IoT Server interacts with a Candi Network Operations Cloud service.

The Candi platform abstracts and simplifies protocol translation between devices, as well as in machine-to-cloud communications,” says Candi. The architecture “makes any networked device easily addressable on its own terms, with proper permissions, from anywhere in the world,” says the company.

The fanless 8.1 x 7.2 x 1.3-inch CC150 is built on a Thin Mini-ITX board equipped with a dual-core, 1.86GHz Intel Atom N2800 processor from the Cedarview generation that preceded Bay Trail. You can load up to 4GB of RAM onto the device, which is further equipped with a 2.5-inch SATA drive, as well as an mSATA link. A 32GB SSD available with the standard $424 configuration appears to be an mSATA drive.

The CC150 is further equipped with GbE, HDMI, and VGA ports, as well as six USB 2.0 ports, two of them front-facing along with an optional pair of serial ports. Audio jacks are available along with two mini-PCIe slots and a pair of antenna holes for any wireless gear you might want to add. The gateway has a wide-range 8 to 19V power supply, as well as multiple mounting options.
