The HiFiBerry DAC8x addresses a long-standing limitation of Raspberry Pi HATs, which traditionally only supported 2-channel audio. The DAC8x allows for 8-channel sound output, designed for applications such as spatial audio setups or home theater systems. It features four dedicated 192kHz/24bit Burr-Brown DACs and connects directly to the Raspberry Pi 5 without additional cables or soldering.

With ultra-low-noise linear voltage regulators, the DAC8x ensures optimal audio performance and simplicity in installation. It supports a frequency response from 10Hz to 70kHz, aimed at meeting a wide range of audio requirements. The DAC8x is powered directly by the Raspberry Pi, requiring no additional power supply.

Meanwhile, the HiFiBerry Amp4 Pro is a high-quality Class-D power amplifier designed for delivering powerful stereo audio. It offers up to 60W of power, allowing users to easily connect speakers and create a stereo audio system with their Raspberry Pi. The Amp4 Pro is designed to work with a single 12-24V power supply, powering both the amplifier and the Raspberry Pi, and is compatible with 4-8 Ohm speakers.

One of its key features is the ability to power additional 5V peripherals, such as the official Raspberry Pi 7” display, thanks to an improved voltage converter capable of supplying up to 5A.

The Amp4 Pro also supports sample rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz, accommodating various audio sources and formats. It includes integrated dual-domain clocks for enhanced performance, similar to the DAC2 Pro.

HiFiBerry indicates that users will need to ensure they have the latest Linux kernel, as the Amp4 Pro introduces changes to the kernel driver, and compatibility with older kernels is not guaranteed.
