Oct 19, 2024 — by Giorgio Mendoza 577 views

The DC-ROMA RISC-V Laptop II is one of the latest hardware platforms designed for developers interested in the RISC-V architecture. It features a RISC-V 64-bit 8-core CPU, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, SSD support, and comes pre-installed with Ubuntu Desktop 23.10.

The DC-ROMA Laptop II is powered by the SpacemiT Key Stone K1 SoC, a RISC-V 64-bit 8-core CPU running up to 2.0GHz. The K1 includes an AI Fusion Computing Engine capable of delivering up to 2TOPS@INT and a Vector Engine supporting 256-bit processing.

According to SpacemiT, the K1 provides 30% better single-core performance than the ARM Cortex-A55, while using 60%-80% less power. The SoC also supports the RVA22 Profile and 256-bit RVV 1.0, offering twice the SIMD parallel processing compared to Arm NEON.

The laptop offers flexible memory and storage options, with configurations featuring 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and support for SSDs up to 1TB. A MicroSD card slot is also available for additional storage options.

The 14.1-inch IPS display offers a resolution of 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz, paired with a 1080p FHD camera. Despite its lightweight design at 1.36 kg, the laptop is built with a full aluminum body and provides up to eight hours of battery life.

The RISC-V blog mentioned in August that the device runs Ubuntu Desktop 23.10, a stable and widely used open-source operating system. This OS offers developers access to a broad range of integrated development tools, including GCC, Python 3.11.6, and other popular environments such as Node.js and Docker.

Apparently, the DC-ROMA Laptop II comes with DeepComputing AI customer service software, offering assistance on company products and other inquiries.
