Cubie A7A with Allwinner A733 & LPDDR5 RAM Launches, Starting at $28.70

Aug 17, 2025 — by Giorgio Mendoza 672 views

First seen last month, Radxa has officially launched the Cubie A7A, a credit card–sized SBC built on the Allwinner A733 SoC. Designed for high-performance computing, AI inference, and multimedia, it combines an octa-core CPU, Imagination GPU, and NPU with flexible storage and connectivity for edge and embedded applications.

The Allwinner A733 is built on a 12nm process and uses a big.LITTLE architecture combining two Arm Cortex-A76 performance cores at up to 2.0 GHz with six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at up to 1.8 GHz. Graphics are handled by an Imagination BXM-4-64 GPU supporting Vulkan 1.3, OpenGL ES 3.2, and OpenCL 3.0.

For AI workloads, the Vivante VIP9000 NPU delivers up to 3 TOPS at INT8, with support for mixed-precision operations across INT8, INT16, FP16, and FP32. A RISC-V XuanTie E902 coprocessor running at 200 MHz is also included for real-time and low-power tasks under FreeRTOS.

Memory options range from 2 GB to 16 GB of LPDDR5, with storage provided through a microSD slot, an eMMC and UFS combo connector, and a PCIe Gen3 interface that supports NVMe SSD expansion. A small onboard SPI flash is used for the bootloader. These options make the board adaptable for both lightweight prototyping and demanding deployments requiring high-capacity storage.

Multimedia capabilities include HDMI 2.0 video output up to 4K at 60 frames per second and dual-display support via HDMI and MIPI DSI. On the input side, a four-lane MIPI CSI interface can be configured as a single four-lane or dual two-lane setup, enabling the use of high-resolution camera modules.

Hardware codecs allow 4K H.264 and H.265 encoding at 30 frames per second and 8K video decoding for H.265, VP9, and AVS2, along with 4K H.264 playback.

Connectivity is equally comprehensive. The Cubie A7A integrates Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 with an external antenna connector, a Gigabit Ethernet port with support for IEEE 802.3af/at Power over Ethernet via an optional HAT, and multiple USB ports, including one USB 3.1 OTG, three USB 2.0 hosts, and a USB-C port for both data and power.

A 40-pin GPIO header provides access to common interfaces such as UART, I²C, SPI, PWM, and I²S. Additional expansion headers support features like fan control, PCIe peripherals, and PoE modules.
