Seco unveiled a “Q7-B03” Qseven COM with Intel’s new Atom E3900 “Apollo Lake” SoC and optional onboard SATA flash and -40 to 85°C support.
Seco’s Q7-B03 is the second Qseven module we’ve seen based on Intel’s 14nm-fabricated Atom E3900 “Apollo Lake” line of SoCs, following Congatec’s Conga-QA5, announced along with Apollo Lake based SMARC 2.0 Conga-SA5 and COM Express Compact Conga-TCA5 modules. Seco previously tapped the earlier, 22nm, “Bay Trail” Atom E3800 in its Qseven-based Q7-BT and smaller μQseven-based μQ7-BT-J modules.

The Q7-B03 offers the same line of 14nm-fabricated Atom E3900 and related Celeron and Pentium SoCs supported by Congatec:
- Intel Atom x7-E3950 — 4x cores @ 1.6GHz/2.0GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 12W TDP
- Intel Atom x5-E3940 — 4x cores @ 1.6GHz/1.8GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 9W TDP
- Intel Atom x5-E3930 — 2x cores @ 1.3GHz/1.8GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 6.5W TDP
- Intel Celeron N3350 — 2x cores @ 1.1GHz/2.4GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 6W TDP
- Intel Pentium N4200 — 4x cores @ 1.1GHz/2.5GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 6W TDP
The Atom E3900 embedded SoC offers faster performance and much faster graphics performance than previous Atom models. The SoC includes Gen9 graphics with triple 4K display support, as well as four vector image processing units, and Intel’s Time Coordinated Computing (TCC) Technology, which is said to coordinate and synchronize peripherals and networks of connected devices. There’s also a Trusted Execution Engine 3.0 security co-processor.
The Q7-B03 supports up to 8GB of soldered, dual-channel DDR3L. A soldered SATA flash module is optional, and there are dual SATA and a single SD interface available through the Qseven expansion interface.
The Q7-B03 is equipped with a GbE controller, and supports 6x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0 ports. To enable the second 3.0 port, you need a Qseven 2.1 compliant carrier board. Four PCIe interfaces are available, although one is dedicated to GbE.
Display interfaces include either an HDMI or a DP++ and either an LVDS or eDP. The HDMI or eDP interfaces support up to 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, while the DP++ tops out at 4096 x 2160, and the single/dual 19/24-bit LVDS at 1920 x 1200. Other features include HD audio, UART, I2C, LPC, SPI, and SMBus, plus signals for watchdog, fan, and power management.
The 70 x 70mm module has a 5V power supply, and is available in commercial 0 to 60°C and industrial -40 to 85°C versions. The module supports Linux, Yocto Project Linux, and Windows 10 Enterprise and IoT Core. Android support is under development.
