IoT gateway offers choice of CAN and A/D expansion boards

[Updated: Nov. 21] — Seco announced a “SYS-A62-GW” IoT gateway that runs Linux on an i.MX6 Solo SoC, and features WiFi, GbE, and two serial expansion board options.

Seco’s SYS-A62-GW is a low-end Internet of Things gateway that runs a Yocto Linux based distribution on NXP’s single-core, 1GHz i.MX6 Solo. We have seen several i.MX6 based gateways, including VIA’s Artigo A830. The SYS-A62-GW can “integrate with the most common industrial protocols for data aggregation, real time analysis, on-board processing, encryption and data transfer to the cloud on Linux,” says Seco.

The 146.6 x 95 x 41.8mm gateway is built around Seco’s SBC-A62 single-board computer. The device runs on 12V power under commercial 0 to 60 °C temperatures. It ships with 512MB of soldered and DDR3L and 4GB of soldered eMMC, and offers a microSD slot for memory expansion.

Communications are handled via a Gigabit Ethernet port and a WiFi module with an external antenna. The system provides two USB 2.0 host ports, a micro-USB client port, an internal debug UART interface, and an RTC.

The SYS-A62-GW offers a choice of two expansion boards, which provide a 20-pole 3.81mm terminal block interface. Each expansion card supplies RS-485 (half duplex) and RS-232 interfaces. Expansion Board 1 adds to that with a 3.3V CMOS UART and dual CANBus interfaces. Expansion Board 2 instead adds 8x analog inputs and 4x optoisolated digital inputs. In addition, both boards provide USB 2.0 host ports, which on Expansion Board 1 can be replaced as a factory option with a 10/100 Ethernet port.

Further information

No pricing or availability information was provided for the SYS-A62-GW, but at publication time the Seco shopping page did not include it. More information may be found at Seco’s SYS-A62-GW product page.
