ESC to feature dozens of embedded Linux, Android sessions

Mar 17, 2013  |  Rick Lehrbaum

Next month’s Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) to be held April 22-25 in San Jose, Calif. will offer embedded developers a sumptuous menu of embedded Linux, Android, and open source session topics. ESC, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, is now part of UBM’s big Design West show.

UBM describes Design West as “the world’s only technical conference and expo for electronics design engineers, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals.” In addition to the venerable ESC event, Design West now also includes Black Hat and Android design summits.

This year’s Silicon Valley Design West features over 150 technical lectures, panels, tutorials, certification programs, and hands-on training sessions focused on software, hardware, and systems design topics and tools of interest to electronic hardware, software, and system developers, according to the event’s website. There will also be a large expo, with more than 300 booths, both large and small, showcasing their products, projects, and technologies. Be sure to investigate the tiny booths on the fringes of the expo area, where startups, .orgs, and community-supported projects tend to be tucked away out of sight.

While expo-only passes are free, attendance of conference sessions requires a paid pass, which costs $200 and includes three one-class passes (for Tues.-Thurs. conference sessions only) and a copy of the conference proceedings, or $2000 (advanced purchase) for the entire event. For more info, visit the event’s website.
