Arm-based HMI voice control kit targets industrial applications

Renesas announced an industrial voice control “RZ/G Solution for HMI” kit that runs Linux and Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree voice stack on iWave’s Renesas RZ/G1E-based iW-RainboW-G22D module. There’s also a mic and a 4.3-inch LCD.

Two new Howchip dev kits feature Nexell Cortex-A7 and -A9 SoCs

Howchip has launched two COM-and-carrier dev kits for IoT applications based on Nexell SoCs. The Scorpion3 runs Linux on a dual Cortex-A7 NXP3220 and the Scorpion5 runs Android on a quad -A9 NXP4330Q.

Khadas Vim3 SBC starts at $100 with NPU-equipped Amlogic A311D

The open-spec “Khadas Vim3” SBC is on pre-order for $100 (2GB/16GB) or $140 (4GB/32GB) with an Amlogic A311D with a 5-TOPS NPU instead of the planned S922X. Other features include 40-pin GPIO, HDMI 2.1, MIPI-DSI and -CSI, USB 3.0 and Type-C, and M.2 with NVMe.

Raspberry Pi pHAT detects indoor pollution, and optionally, outdoors too

Pimoroni’s $57 “Enviro+” pHAT for the Raspberry Pi can detect indoor air quality, temperature, pressure, humidity, light, and noise. You can hook up an optional “PMS5003 Particulate Matter Sensor” for detecting outdoor pollution.

[Updated: Jun. 19] — Radxa unveiled a 43 x 43mm, $10 and up “Rock Pi S” SBC that runs Linux on a quad -A53 RK3308. There’s also a v1.4 update of the RK3399-based Rock Pi 4 that adds 4MB SPI for booting NVMe drives plus a Rock Pi PoE HAT and a USB 3.0 eMMC adapter.
