Raspberry Pi co-creator Gert Van Loo (pictured) and master-modder Ben Heck will be active participants in electronic distributor Newark element14′s expo booth at Design West (ESC) in San Jose next week. Events and activities at the booth will include hands-on demos, product giveaways, Q&A sessions, and tutorials on developing Arduino-based applications and using ARM development tools.

Featured products at Newark element14′s expo booth (#2340) will include the latest Raspberry Pi SBCs as well as the next-gen BeagleBone development platform. Better yet, attendees will have the opportunity to register for a chance to win them.

Heck and Van Loo’s presentations, tutorials, and other Design West activities, as described by Newark element14, will include:

  • Beagles, Boards, and Raspberry Pi…Oh my! — Heck and Van Loo will showcase Raspberry Pi, Arduino, BeagleBone, and ARM embed-enabled programming platforms in 45-minute informational tutorials. Attendees can stop by the Hands-On Speed Training Lab to gain valuable insight into key features, benefits, and accessories available for some of the hottest open source hardware and software. This session will take place Tues. at 2-2:45pm; Weds. at 3-3:45pm, and Thurs. at 1-1:45pm.
  • Introduction to Raspberry Pi and Gertboard — Van Loo will conduct hands-on instruction sessions, demonstrating how the acclaimed Gertboard enables the Raspberry Pi to interface to the outside world through analog and digital converters and I/O, as well as motor controllers. Four separate, 45-minute sessions, at Noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3 pm will take place on Thursday at the Hands-on Speed Training Lab. Attendees of this Newark element14-sponsored event will have the opportunity to gain unique insider tips and tricks, and will walk away with their very own Gertboard.
  • The Ben Heck Show — Heck will be filming his popular element14-sponsored online TV series, “The Ben Heck Show,” directly from the show floor, as well as conducting one-on-one interviews with key members of the design community to uncover today’s most sought-after questions about the latest technology, design tools, and top manufacturers.
