Aaeon’s 3.5-inch “GENE-KBU6” SBC features Intel’s 7th Gen U-series CPUs, and up to 16GB DDR4, SATA III, 4x USB 3.0, 4x serial, DP, and touch-ready LVDS.

Aaeon’s 3.5-inch GENE-KBU6 SBC is part of an Aaeon rollout of Intel 7th Gen Core “Kaby Lake” boards that includes the PICO-ITX form factor PICO-KBU1, the IMBA-Q170A and IMBA-H110A ATX boards, and the COM-KBUC6 COM Express Type 6 Compact, NanoCOM-KBU Type 10 Mini, and COM-KBHB6 Type 6 Basic modules. Earlier 3.5-inch Aaeon “GENE” boards include the Apollo Lake based GENE-APL5, and other 3.5-inch Kaby Lake SBCs include Axiomtek’s CAPA500.

Like all of the above Kaby Lake boards except for the ATX models, the GENE-KBU6 offers a choice of dual-core, U-series processors with 15W TDPs, defaulting to the highest-end, up to 3.9GHz Core i7-7600U. As usual, Aaeon does not mention OS support, but Linux should run just fine.

The GENE-KBU6 supports up to 16GB DDR4, and offers SATA III and mSATA interfaces, with the latter shared with one of the two mini-PCIe slots. A SIM slot is also onboard.
